What is EXION Fractional RF Microneedling?
This latest skin treatment combines monopolar radiofrequency (RF) and AI for precise energy delivery to deeper skin layers. EXION RF Micro-needling is now considered the newest and most advanced form of radiofrequency micro-needling.
How does EXION Fractional RF Microneedling improve skin texture and laxity?
Micro-needling or Collagen Induction Therapy resurfaces the skin by creating microscopic lesions in the skin without harming the skin. These micro-wounds initiate a biological reaction known as controlled wound healing. Rejuvenating the skin on a cellular level, helping the body to create more collagen, and starting tissue remodelling.
This tissue remodelling and collagen stimulation repairs a wide variety of skin blemishes, therefore rejuvenating a new layer of healthy, radiant skin.
Combining radio frequency (RF) energy to the micro-needling will encourage firmer and tighter skin. The micro-needles deliver radio frequency warming energy deep into the dermis to enhance the wound healing response. This energy heats the dermal tissue, stimulating even more collagen production on a deeper level than the average Micro-needling or Collagen Induction Therapy treatment. How many EXION FRF treatments will I need?
Depending on the area and condition of the skin, most people will undergo between 2 to 6 treatments, at 4 to 6 weeks intervals. Each treatment, depending on the area being treated, usually takes between 20 to 30 minutes.
Does EXION FRF hurt?
EXION uses a combination of radiofrequency (RF) and targeted ultrasound, and the device continuously monitors skin temperature to keep treatment comfortable. No needles are involved for the standard face and body applicators. Most people describe the sensation as:
- Warmth or heat on the skin
- A mild tingling feeling
- Occasional tightening or pulsing sensations
- Similar to a hot stone massage or heated facial
After treatment you may experience:
- Mild redness or warmth for a few hours
- Slight tenderness similar to a mild sunburn
- Rarely, temporary swelling
When will I see results from EXION FRF?
Some clients report visible results about one month after the treatment, while the most significant results are often reported three months after the last session.
EXION FRF vs Morpheus8: What's the difference?
EXION fractional RF and Morpheus8 are both collagen-stimulating treatments, but they work in different ways.
Exion FRF combines advanced monopolar radiofrequency (RF), targeted high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU), and AI-driven energy delivery to provide precise, effective skin rejuvenation.
Its intelligent AI system continuously monitors skin impedance (resistance) and automatically adjusts energy delivery in real time, ensuring consistent treatment while enhancing safety and patient comfort. At the same time, targeted ultrasound technology creates microchannels within the skin, allowing RF energy to penetrate more effectively into deeper tissue layers.
The result is improved collagen and elastin production, along with stimulation of the skin’s natural hyaluronic acid production for enhanced hydration, firmness, and overall skin quality. This innovative approach enables shorter needle insertion depths, efficient single-pass treatments, reduced discomfort, and faster treatment times, while still delivering deep tissue remodeling.
Unlike Exion FRF, Morpheus8 does not incorporate targeted high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) to enhance RF energy delivery, nor does it feature AI-driven real-time energy optimization based on skin impedance. As a result, energy delivery is not automatically adjusted during treatment to account for variations in skin resistance.
Morpheus8 combines microneedling with radiofrequency (RF) energy to deliver heat into the deeper layers of the skin for collagen remodeling and skin tightening. Because it typically uses deeper needle penetration and multiple passes, treatment may involve greater discomfort and a longer recovery period compared with newer technologies.
